It's been like 15 years since I last came here. It is still delicious! Service at the sushi bar was great. Staff was both fast and helpful. Nice atmosphere and they get the food out quick. Wonderful lunch spot if you want some delicious, fast and reasonably priced sushi!
My fiancée suggested a casual date night here because it was close to home and well-rated online. If you want a table on a Fri/Sat night, you will need a reservation because it's a popular spot in the area and gets packed; typically only bar seating will be available for walk-ins. Although one benefit of sitting at the bar is being able to observe their staff's teamwork behind the scenes, you can really tell they enjoy what they do! I would say Tomodachi is a high-value experience: very good sushi, sashimi, appetizers, drinks, and service without the downtown prices or ambiance. Their fish is served at the perfect temperature, which is increasingly rare these days without going to a fine dining restaurant. Will consider bumping this review up to 5 stars if the quality remains consistent in my future visits! Something Wrong & Ex Girlfriend Roll (4/5) - These special rolls are constructed well without relying on heavy sauces for flavor. Chef's Choice Sushi & Sashimi Combo (4/5) - Thick and delicious slices of sashimi, especially the buttery/fatty pieces of salmon and white tuna. Fresh lemon is added to enhance natural flavors, and jalapeño vinegar sauce is strategically used to brighten certain bites. Dynamite (5/5) - A hot appetizer consisting of melted cheese, shrimp, mushrooms, and a ton of BUTTER. You really can't go wrong with these ingredients!

Nom nom on the salmon and the sake. I got some sake/ Salmon sashimi here. It's frustrating when you pay $20 for 5 slices and you basically get something so thin it could be smoked salmon to put on my bagel. This place did have a decent thickness to their slices.
I recently dined at Tomodachi with friends, there were 6of us so we got the private room in the back and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Although there was no happy hour offered, the standard dinner pricing was reasonable, and we left with satisfied palates and full stomachs. I opted for the sushi dinner priced at $25, which included 8 pieces of sushi and a spicy tuna roll. The quality of the fish was exceptional, and the combination provided a substantial and fulfilling meal. Salmon sushi was a standout! Four of us ordered the same sushi dinner and we unanimously enjoyed the freshness and flavor of the sushi. The portions were generous, and by the time I finished my plate, I was comfortably full. To top off the evening, we tried the fried cheesecake, which turned out to delish. The crispy exterior complemented the creamy cheesecake inside, creating a perfect ending to the culinary journey. Our server, Susanna, deserves special mention for her impeccable service. She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and ensured that our dining experience was seamless. Her friendly demeanor added a personal touch to the evening, making us feel welcomed!
Staff is very friendly and remembers you if you are a regular. We live in the neighborhood so come here often. This is a small mom and pops Japanese place and holds around 40 people. The chef is a former Novi chef. Here are our go-tos for dinner and we love them all. - cherry blossom (I forgot to take a photo) - Dinner tempura - includes shrimp - Black Cod - mt Fuji roll We order these all the time. Wow...just wow. Absolutely outstanding sushi. Awesome service. Small, cozy space. Went there for lunch today with two colleagues and was blown away by the freshness, flavors and overall quality. The wasabi is the real deal and there's no need for soy sauce-or any additional wasabi. I can't recall the names of anything, but we had a combination of nigiri and sushi rolls. One of the three of us had crab cakes-she's new to sushi. The wonderful server also suggested a roll to her that has no raw fish... and she loved it. Next time I'm in the area, I'm hitting this place again!
